![]() What is your funniest Christmas memory? (can be the same as the above!) What is your favourite Christmas decoration? What is your favourite Christmas movie or TV show episode? What is your favourite Christmas carol / song / piece of music? What is your favourite Christmas tradition? Just make sure to post the countdown for the day at the start of your post (if it hasn't already been done by an earlier contributor the same day!). I reckon some of the Roald Dharl stories like the twits Danny champion of the world and George’s marvellous medicine could work as adaptions over the Christmas period. My apologies for being a bit late to the party with this - it's "the most wonderful time of the year" again.Īs has been done in previous Christmas Countdown threads, I'll post some questions here as discussion starters - you can pick any or all of them to answer, or indeed come up with a question of your own to ask or some other Christmassy thoughts to share. I reckon any script writers would jump at the chance to create a new one. BBC one don’t seem to bother anymore but when they do they are decent a few examples are Greatest store in the world in 1999 and then in more recent years professor Brawnsten and the David Walliams adaptations. Something else lacking these days is one off family dramas. Goes wrong show and ghosts work better in pre watershed slots. Out of the current sitcoms there is only really not going out that could fill the primetime comedy slot on Christmas Day. BBC one got really lucky in 2019 with Gavin and Stacey but that’s unlikely to be made again for a while or maybe not at all. Maybe but other than outnumbered which just about still works and Men behaving badly there really nothing else sitcoms wise that I can think off that would still work now. The final series ended up on BBC Three IIRC. It did well for BBC2 standards but I dont think its the sort of show that people yearn for a revival. I don’t think you can say coupling was unpopular as it lasted 4 series which is good for a BBC Two sitcom. You could have a scenario where Tony and Gary are having a mid life crisis now the kids have flown the nest which would bring about the behaving badly aspect or Gary's daughter bringing home an unsuitable boyfriend, another situation to behave badly.Īs for Coupling, it was never really that popular so any sort of one-off is unlikely. I don't think Gary and Tony being older would be an issue. They've said in the past that they'd have to all agree to it or none of them will do. ![]() Not sure how busy Moffat is these days but the sticking point could be Jack Davonport who played Steve who I think lives in the US now and does American TV and films. The only way I could see it working is if Gary and Tony are reminiscing about their lives and we see flashbacks of the years since the series ended.Īnother comedy although it would be for BBC Two which could come back as a one off is coupling. In fact he could even be a grandfather now. ![]() Gary’s child would be a grown up now and you would think Gary and possibly Tony would be a lot more responsible which would lose some of what made the program so popular in the first place. Although even if both or one of Caroline Quinton or Leslie Ash did not want to do it then it could still work with just Neil And Martin although even then it might not actually work now. ![]() That would depend if all four of the main cast are up to doing it. The one comedy I'd like to see make a one-off especially since it has an anniversary in 2022 is Men Behaving Badly. It was never a big hit to begin with so it would be very unlikely to be revived. I'm not convinced The Impressions Show would do well on Christmas Day. ITV will also likely have the Harry Potters back next Christmas so are garunteed a run out over Christmas. However I think it's more likely the soaps will feature, but at least 30minutes would be better than 60. Next Christmas is a Saturday and given this years Boxing Day is also a Saturday and free from soap, it's not out of the realms of possibility that its soap free. If that's your fantasy schedule then what would a poor one for you be? Or is that your guess of ITV's Christmas Day schedule in 2021? My fantasy/what could be based on this year and getting the Potter films back schedule would be:ģ.10pm Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secretsĩpm Gordon, Gino & Fred Christmas Special Here is my fantasy schedule for ITV 1 on Christmas Day 2021 ![]()
